The police busted an Aadhar Enabled Payment System (Bio-metric) fraud by arresting five cyber-criminals and seized electronic gadgets which they used to deceive the public.
Addressing a press meet here on Wednesday, Superintendent of police KKN Anburajan said that the police busted Aadhar Enabled Payment System (Bio-metric) scam by arresting 4 cyber-criminals-Nallagalla Venkatesh, Malla Ajay, Ganta Kalyan, Sk Johney and Pasupuleti Gopi, who were involved in 416 AEPS offences in various states.
The police seized a Maruthi Espresso car bearing Chassis no. MA3RFL61SNH401286, 4 Mobile phones, one rubber stamp mission, polymer liquid bottle, transparent cover, photo static Negative film with fingerprints, aloe vera gel, biometric capturing machine and one external hard disk.
The SP said that complaints received from the victims that cash was transferred from their bank accounts without their knowledge. One of the victims S Shankarayya lodged a complaint with the Chinna Chowk police station on August 15 stating that money was transferred from SBI bank account without his knowledge on August 7. The victims said that he did not disclose the OTP nor opened any link.
A special team was formed to investigate the fraud and the team arrested the five cyber criminals.
