In a shocking incident, doctors left a forceps in stomach after cesarean operation to a pregnant woman by the Government General Hospital doctors and the district Collector ordered an inquiry.
Government General Hospital Superintendent Dr. Seshidhar told the media on Wednesday that a pregnant woman G Swapna was admitted to the GGH on April 19 for delivery. The doctors performed a cesarean operation on her and later she was discharged from hospital and the mother and infant were healthy.
However the woman Swapna suffered severe stomach pain. She consulted the GGH doctors on August 8. The Eluru GGH doctors referred her to Vijayawada GGH where the doctor took X ray and found a forceps in her stomach.
The doctor performed an operation and removed the forceps. The doctors who performed a cesarean operation in Eluru GGH left the forceps mistakenly in her stomach. Now the woman is recuperating. Action would be taken on those who are responsible for this, the Superintendent said. Meanwhile, district Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh ordered for an inquiry on the incident.
