False messages on social media to divert attention
PNS|Vijayawada
To dilute the case and divert the attention of the public regarding the attack on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam Airport in 2019, a section of media has spread false messages bringing a new name involved in the attack. The attack on Jagan Mohan Reddy at Visakhapatnam Airport was pre-planned that involved biggies, alleged I Venkateswarulu (IV), advocate for CM Jagan Mohan Reddy in the chicken knife case.
Addressing the media in Vijayawada on Wednesday, the advocate said that the attack was totally planned but luckily Jagan Mohan Reddy was alert and had a close shave. He said that to dilute the attack, the case was also named after the weapon used in the attack (Kodi Katti – Chicken Knife). He said that the accused in the case Srinivas has used a very sharp edge weapon, and the accused has a criminal history and an FIR was still pending against him since 2017.
Advocate IV, said that NIA questioned 39 witnesses in the attempted murder on CM Jagan. He said that till now the SIT has not handed over the details of the case to the NIA. The NIA has filed a charge sheet that Srinivas was involved in attempted murder with a sharp edge weapon. The then DGP instructed the SIT not to hand over the records to the NIA and the records were not handed over to the NIA initially.
How did accused enter airport premises?
The advocate said that the accused Srinivas was hired by the airport authority by giving a false report that the accused has no criminal background. The accused entered the airport premises illegally and was roaming freely with the knife inside the airport.
He said that a person with criminal background and case pending is not permitted to get employment in the airport. A case against Srinivas was still pending when he started working at the airport which is totally illegal, he said.
Commenting on the transfer of the case to the Visakhapatnam NIA court, IV said that after obtaining the a GO from the central government the case was transferred to Vizag and there is no involvement of the state government influence, he said and added that a charge sheet was filed without collecting any evidence.
Attack made with a plan
The advocate said that CM Jagan Mohan Reddy was attacked as per a well-organised plan in 2019. The NIA also said that there was an assassination attempt on CM Jagan.
It is clear that there was an assassination attempt on Chief Minister Jagan. Some people are spreading false propaganda about the assassination attempt.
He recalled that the accused Srinivas confessed to the crime in a channel interview. Some are trying to divert the people’s attention on the murder attempt from the beginning so that the case does not come against those who are behind the accused.
