Killer elephant captured, being sent to Zoo Park

The killer tusker was finally captured by the officials at village Gudipala and it was sent to the Zoo Park.

The forest officials sedated the elephant by using a sedative injection. Later the officials captured the tusker. The forest officials used two well-trained elephants to capture the killer elephant. Arrangements were made to shift the captured killer elephant to the Zoo Park, forest officials said.

It may be mentioned here that the captured elephant went amok on Wednesday trampling to death two persons including a woman and killed some cattle at Ramapuram village in Gudipala mandal. The elephant also attacked and trampled another person. The villagers heaved a sigh of relief at the capture of the killer elephant. Meanwhile, Rs 10 lakh ex gratia was announced to the bereaved families of two persons who were trampled to death by the elephant.

Chitturu MLA Srinivasulu and DFO Chaitanya Kumar Reddy handed Rs 10 lakh cheques to the family members of the deceased.
