Minister for Civil Supplies Karumuri Nageswara Rao has said that the State government has asked the Union government to supply red gram instead of peas which was agreed to and red gram would be supplied to ration card holders in the coming days through PDS. He refuted the TDP’s allegation that the YSRCP government failed to provide red gram. The minister recalled that the Chandrababu Naidu government did not supply red gram to ration card holders in five years of TDP rule but Jagan Mohan Reddy government was providing red gram at subsidised prices.

Addressing the media persons on Saturday, the Civil Supplies Minister recalled that during Chandrababu Naidu’s regime in 2014-15, not a single grain of red gram was distributed to the people anywhere across the state, at the fag end of 2016, the TD government supplied red gram only in the tribal areas at Rs 40 per kg when the price was Rs 63 in the open market with a subsidy of meagre Rs 23. He pointed out that when the Jagan Mohan Reddy government came, red gram was distributed for Rs 67 against Rs 150 in the open market with a subsidy of Rs 80 per kg.

The Minister recalled that during Chandrababu’s regime, 93,000 metric tonnes of red gram was distributed in 5 years by spending only Rs 1605 crores but the Jagan government spent Rs 3019 crores in these four years and distributed 3 lakh tonnes of red gram which means that Jagan government has distributed almost three times more red gram and more than double the expenditure than the previous TD government. Recently, the Center has allotted peas to AP whose stocks were in Karnataka, The minister said that as the Andhra people will not use peas, our government asked to supply red gram against peas and it was agreed hence in a few days, the stocks will arrive and red gram will be supplied to all ration card holders.

Minister Nageswara Rao stated that National media reports say that Chandrababu is an Emperor of corruption. He recalled that Naidu started his political career with two crores, and got assets worth lakhs of crores from the exploitation of sand, received from contractors in the name of Capital Amaravati or, did all the crores of rupees come only by doing the heritage milk business and can Chandrababu answer all these.

He asked why is Naidu tight-lipped about the notices of the IT department and why is the income tax department not explaining how the money was earned. The minister said we demand that Chandrababu clarify to the people how much he has taken from the contractor in the name of Capital Amaravati, how much his personal secretary has collected and Chandrababu has the responsibility to reveal something that he has not received any notices from the IT department.

Nageswara Rao added that Chandrababu will be in trouble everywhere, his politics faded and after the 2024 elections, Naidu’s political disappearance is certain.
