YSRTP President YS Sharmila may merge her party with the Congress within a week if all outstanding issues are settled with the Congress.
The main problem is that a section of Telangana Congress leaders have no objections to Sharmila joining the Congress but they don’t like her politicking in Telangana. These leaders are still trying hard to send her back to Andhra Pradesh after inducting her into the Congress, it is learnt. This group is afraid of Sharmila as they think that she might become a source of trouble for them in future, it is learnt. However, Sharmila wants to engage in politics only in Telangana.
But another section of Telangana Congress leaders welcome Sharmila. This group said that many AP-based leaders are functioning in all TS political parties including the BRS. This group is asking why a section of Congress leaders object to Sharmila joining the Congress and participating in Telangana politics when there were no such objections to BRS leaders with Andhra roots.
CLP leader Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Bhongir MP Komatireddy Venkat Reddy have openly welcomed Sharmila into the Congress.
Now the question is which group of Telangana Congress leaders is going to win on the Sharmila issue.
Meanwhile, Sharmila will have a meeting with YSRTP leaders and prepare a list of those who are ready to come with her. Sharmila is also trying to erase the charge against the Congress that it deceived the YSR family.
She said on Saturday that YS Rajasekhara Reddy is highly respected and that she could negotiate with Sonia and Rahul Gandhi due to that.
She said that adding YSR’s name in an FIR was just an accidental mistake made by Sonia Gandhi.
