Even as the Telangana Rashtra Samiti has repositioned itself as Bharat Rashtra Samithi, the party seems to be opposedto the push for changing India’s name to Bharat.
A row erupted on Tuesday after invitations for a G20 dinner were sent out by President Droupadi Murmu describing her position as ‘President of Bharat’, instead of the customary ‘President of India’, with the opposition accusing the Modi government of planning to drop India and stay with just Bharat as the country’s name.
BRS circulated clips of old videosin which Chief Minister KChandrasekhar Rao and Minister KTR have gone on record: “India needs game changers, not name changers”, with a related tweetin context by Dileep Konatham, Digital Media director.
Krishank Manne, TSMDC chairman said: “Bharat was there, Bharat is there and Bharat will be there. Article 1 of the Constitution reads India, that is Bharat, shall be Union of States. Entire political science graduates please read the Constitution”.
The old video of BRS showing KCR is from a press meet in Maharashtra where the one showing KTR is from Hyderabad, with the latter responding to a question about renaming of places in country, including Hyderabad.
