In a proactive measure to maintain a precise and comprehensive voter list, District Collector A Mallikarjuna has directed Electoral Registration Officers (EROs), Assistant Electoral Registration Officers (AEROs), and Booth Level Officers (BLOs) to meticulously prepare an accurate and error-free voter list.
During the video conference, the Collector engaged with officials on various critical aspects of voter list preparation. Discussions encompassed issues such as additions, deletions, adoption of the election list, registration of young voters, gender ratio, the inclusion of transgender and homeless individuals as voters, and addressing election-related complaints.
Emphasizing the need for meticulous preparation, the Collector urged officials to avoid mistakes in the voter list and instructed them to address complaints related to applications promptly. He highlighted the importance of maintaining comprehensive records and advocated for providing voting rights to individuals turning 18 by Oct 1, 2023, in the district.
The Collector also stressed the significance of raising awareness about registering homeless and transgender individuals as voters, underlining the commitment to inclusivity in the electoral process. Officials received clear directives to thoroughly rectify logical and demographic errors in the voter list, with particular scrutiny on cases where a single door number has more than 10 votes.
To expedite the voter registration process for young women turning 18, Mallikarjuna urged the facilitation of special camps and the collection of college student details to ensure all eligible individuals have the opportunity to vote.
District Revenue Officer K Mohan Kumar, election staff, and other key officials were present during the video conference, underscoring the collaborative effort required to uphold the integrity of the electoral process in the district.
