TDP-Jana Sena seat-sharing talks in crucial stage

Must read

The ongoing seat-sharing negotiations between the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Jana Sena have reached a pivotal juncture, causing unease among senior TDP members. With the upcoming elections on the horizon, the absence of concrete information about a collaborative effort between N. Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan to finalise the candidate list adds an element of suspense.
Sources within Jana Sena suggest that Pawan Kalyan is giving considerable attention to his community, the Kapus, and Other Backward Classes (BCs) while selecting constituencies. Reports indicate that Pawan Kalyan has commissioned multiple surveys covering all 175 constituencies, providing him with a clearer picture of potential seats for the upcoming polls.
The Jana Sena’s interest in contesting from the twin Godavari and North Andhra districts has come to light, potentially conflicting with the TDP’s plans to contest in Nellore, Krishna, Guntur, and Prakasam districts. However, a challenge has arisen as both parties eye the same territories. TDP seniors are hesitant to grant Jana Sena access to their traditional strongholds, particularly in the twin Godavari and North Andhra districts.
To find common ground, TDP leaders are reportedly proposing a seat-sharing ratio of 75:25 for the total of 68 seats within the twin Godavari and North Andhra districts. The outcome of these negotiations is eagerly awaited as the Sankranti festival approaches, with high expectations for the release of the first TDP-Jana Sena combined candidates list. The stakes are high, and the decisions made in the coming days could shape the political landscape leading up to the elections.
