MLC polls: Congress finalises names

The Congress has finalised candidates for the MLAs’ quota MLC elections. The party may announce its candidates tonight or on Sunday. Party leaders are going to Manipur on Sunday to attend Rahul Gandhi’s Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra commencing on Sunday.
Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka and Telangana Congress in-charge Deepa Das Munshi had a meeting on Saturday in New Delhi at AICC President Mallikharjuna Kharge’s residence in which Kharge, AICC former president Rahul
Gandhi and AICC General Secretary KC Venugopal participated.
The meeting discussed the finalization of MLC candidates and vacant minister posts. The Assembly secretariat gave two notifications for MLC elections on January 12. The last date for filing nominations is January 18 and scrutiny will be held on January 19 and January 22 is the withdrawal date.
The election will be held on January 29 and the result will be announced on the same day.
