King George Hospital (KGH), a vital healthcare lifeline for North Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Odisha, and Jharkhand, has successfully digitised its laboratory services under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission. This initiative promises greater efficiency, convenience, and enhanced care for both patients and healthcare providers.
KGH, already handling around 2,000 diagnostic tests daily, now boasts an online outpatient registration system and referral process seamlessly integrated with its 36 department laboratories. This eliminates the need for physical collection of test reports, as results are directly sent to the doctor’s hospital login, expediting treatment decisions.
Dr. P Ashok Kumar, KGH Superintendent, highlights the focus on increased efficiency, starting with general medicine and surgery departments.
Digitisation aligns with KGH’s mission to provide accessible and advanced healthcare, catering to thousands of patients across State borders.
Over 4 crore Ayushman Bharat health accounts (ABHA) issued in Andhra Pradesh enable patients to engage digitally. They can receive lab reports, prescriptions, and diagnoses electronically. The UHID generated during online registration further empowers patients to manage their health records across healthcare providers securely.
From its humble beginnings as a civil dispensary in 1815, KGH marks its 100th year with a significant stride into the digital future.
