The Choutuppal police in coordination with the Special Operations Team of Malkajgiri zone on Friday arrested three interstate drug peddlers and seized 64 kg of ganja worth Rs 32, 30,000 from them.
The arrested are PH Favas (29), Ananthu Mohan (25) and Sayed (39), all natives of Kerala. Apart from the contraband, the police seized two vehicles used for transportation and three mobile phones from them.
Favas, a native of Thrissur district worked as a fish transporter, while Mohan a native of Thiruvananthapuram worked as labourer at construction sites and Sayed a native of Malappuram district worked as a mechanic. The accused got in touch with a drug peddler from Bangalore and he offered huge money to the three accused for transporting drugs from Araku in Andhra Pradesh to Bangalore. On January 24, the three accused traveled to Araku and handed over the car to a supplier.
They left Araku in another car and were traveling to Bangalore via Hyderabad. They were apprehended by the police at Panthangi toll and seized the drug. The accused were booked under sections 420 IPC, and 8 (c) r/w 20 (b) (ii) (C), Sec. 29 OF NDPS ACT-1985.
