The government has changed. The Congress has come to power replacing the BRS government. However, the leaders continue to change their colours to retain their dominance. They are trying to shift their loyalties to the Congress party.
These leaders became habituated to sailing with the ruling party as they cannot survive without power. Some leaders change their colours to lobby the new government too. Some leaders do so to protect their assets. Some leaders do so to escape punishment for the misdeeds they committed.
The chameleons, if allowed to succeed, would harm those who strived for the success of the ruling party, said a leader. It would cause immense damage to the political career of the leaders and the activists of the party after so many years of relentless efforts which brought the Congress party to power.
The elected councillors and corporators in the civic bodies have been shifting their loyalties to the ruling party by moving no-trust motions against the chairpersons who owed their allegiance to the opposition party.
These leaders, it is thought, are laying the groundwork for a bigger role in future in the ruling party.
Already five BRS MLAs have stirred up a hornet’s nest among the political circles by meeting Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy. However, they strongly made it clear that they had just paid a courtesy call on the Chief Minister and it had nothing to do with politics.
On Thursday, Telangana State Backward Classes Commission Chairman Vakulabharanam Krishna Mohan Rao, whose term will last till August 31, 2024, met the newly appointed Advisor, Protocol and Public Relations Harkara Venugopal on the occasion of assuming office by the former. It led to speculation.
However, Harkara Venugopal said that Vakulabharanam is his friend and came to him to wish only. However, Vakulabaranam, a former Congress leader, joined the BRS party in 2016. Vakulabaranam was defeated by Eatala Rajender in 2009 and 2010. He did not get a ticket in the 2014 elections.
