KTR demands Rs 10,000 allowance to auto drivers

Must read

BRS working president KT Rama Rao wrote an open letter to Chief Minister Revanth Reddy on the problems of auto drivers. He wrote, “Your government, which came to power with false promises of bringing Prajapalana, has turned anti-people. With ill-conceived policies, the way in which one group is seriously harmed in the rush to implement a guarantee is a blatant failure of your governance. The proof of that is the crisis of auto drivers which is getting worse day-by-day in the State.”
KTR, on behalf of the 6.50 lakh auto drivers of the State, requested the government to
understand the seriousness of the issue. KTR said, “On behalf of the BRS party, I am
demanding the State government to provide financial assistance of Rs 10,000 per month to the six-and-a-half lakh drivers in the State. I request the government which caused the suicide of 15 auto drivers to immediately announce an ex gratia of Rs 10 lakh per family to support their families.”
KTR said, “If the communities were happy in Telangana for the last 10 years, just under your 55 days administration, many sections of the society are feeling unrest.”
“Not knowing how to support their families due to lack of demand for autos, 15 auto
drivers have committed suicide across the State in the recent past. They are facing a situation where their family will not survive due to lack of people to board autos. They
are suffering mental agony as they do not understand how to pay their children’s fees. In
addition to this, the condition of the drivers who drive the hired autos is even worse.
There is no need to mention the situation of drivers who buy autos with loans.”
KTR mentioned that a tribal auto driver burnt the auto that he had bought in front of
the Praja Bhavan in Begumpet.
“At a time when this problem was getting serious, we set up a special committee under
the leadership of the labour wing of our party. We spoke to auto associations and drivers personally and asked about their problems. We prepared a report and sent it to the government under the leadership of our party’s Karmika Vibhagham. But so far there has been no response from your government”, KTR said.
