RTC driver suffers heart attack dies at the wheel

Even as the death of an RTC driver in Khammam district is still green in public memory, another RTC driver passed away due to cardiac arrest at the steering wheel, duly ensuring safety of the bus passengers,  while he was on his way to Hyderabad, reports reaching here said on Saturday.
It may be recalled that post-pandemic situation several persons, including young people, are dying a premature death due to heart attacks. During the past 72 hours cardiac arrest claimed the lives of two RTC drivers – one in Khammam district and the other in Nalgonda district.  Earlier, a teenager and a 10-year-old boy also succumbed to heart attacks.
The deceased RTC driver belonging to Devarakonda RTC Depot was identified as Sankar Naik. He was on his way to Hyderabad from Mallepalli in Nalgonda district when the incident took place.
As the bus crossed Mallepalli in Nalgonda district, Sankar Naik developed pain in the chest. There were at least 20 passengers in the bus at that time. While suffering from excruciating pain in the heart, he ensured the safety of the passengers, knowing well that the situation is slipping away from hand, taking great pains.  He halted the bus on the roadside. After ensuring safety of bus passengers, he leaned on the steering wheel and passed away.  The bus passengers and conductor rushed him to hospital with the help of a 108 ambulance, but the doctors declared him dead on arrival.
A pall of gloom has descended on the RTC bus depot at Devarakonda following the death of Sankar Naik. Everyone is saluting Sankar Naik for ensuring safety of the passengers even when he was dying.
In a similar incident reported in Sattupalli of Khammam district on Thursday, TSRTC driver Srinivasa Rao passed away due to heart attack at the steering wheel after ensuring safety of 50 passengers.
Reeling under heart attack, the driver parked the bus safely and switched on parking indicators.

The incident took place when he was driving the vehicle from Sattupalli to Khammam. He suffered severe discomfort in his chest when the bus neared Kalluru. He managed to bring the bus successfully to a safe halt. He managed to drive the bus with the support of some bus passengers to the government hospital at Kalluru. While passengers were taking him.
