The Telangana Overseas Manpower Company Ltd (TOMCOM) on Tuesday, under the aegis of the Government of Telangana’s Department of Labour, Employment and Training, launched a special training Programme for candidates seeking opportunities in the Japan hospitality sector under the Specific Skilled Worker (SSW) programme.
A notable highlight of the event was the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between GMR Varalakshmi Foundation and TOMCOM, further solidifying the collaborative efforts to enhance skill development and create overseas employment opportunities for the youth of Telangana. The MoU underscored the commitment of both entities to contribute to the growth and prosperity of the region.
The training programme, designed to prepare candidates for a long-term career in Japan, encompasses Japanese language classes and an introduction to Japanese culture.
With a focus on providing overseas opportunities, TOMCOM’s initiative is aligned with the State government’s broader strategy to upgrade the skill of the workforce for employment in developed countries, including Japan, USA, UK, and Germany, The training is being conducted in collaboration with the National Skill Development Corporation International (NSDCI).
Rani Kumidini, Special Chief Secretary, reaffirmed the state government’s commitment to fostering skill development and facilitating overseas employment opportunities for the youth of Telangana through legal and secure migration channels.
Dr. E. Vishnu Vardhan Reddy, Special Secretary and CEO of TOMCOM, emphasised the steadfast support from the government in inspiring the youth to pursue international opportunities. Alongside the assurance of job placements featuring a competitive starting salary between 190,000 and 263,000 yen per month, successful candidates who clear the necessary exams will be eligible for a five-year work visa. This opens up the prospect of obtaining permanent residency in Japan after accumulating five years of valuable work experience. This initiative underscores the government’s dedication to nurturing the growth and global mobility of Telangana’s youth.
TOMCOM launches Japanese Hospitality Training programme

The Chief Guest inaugurated the Mobile Migrant Resource Centre Vans (MMRC), symbolizing the government’s commitment to promote safe and legal migration and reach out to vulnerable migrants staying in remote areas. The successful launch of the Japanese language training program marks a significant stride in empowering Telangana’s workforce with international skills and opportunities. It not only aligns with the state government’s vision for capacity-building but also contributes to strengthening the migration and mobility partnership between India and Japan.
