Minister for Tourism and Culture RK Roja, along with Swarupananda Saraswati, president of Sri Sarada Peetham, unveiled the seven-block Harita Resort rebuilt at a cost of Rs 450 crore by the Andhra Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation (APTDC).
Situated on a 9.88-acre site, the resort now features seven contemporary blocks with international-standard amenities, extensive landscaping, and modern infrastructure. The redevelopment project unfolded in three phases, encompassing site development, structural work, architectural design, interior furnishing, and essential infrastructure installation. APTDC officials confirmed the acquisition of all necessary statutory approvals, including CRZ clearance, local body approval, and a fire safety NOC. The revamped resort offers a diverse range of facilities, including reception areas, restaurants, banquet halls, guest rooms, spa services, indoor recreational areas, a fitness center, and back-of-house support infrastructure.
Addressing previous concerns raised by Opposition parties, Minister Amarnath emphasised that the project received all requisite permissions.
He further revealed that the Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister’s office is currently evaluating the potential use of the buildings for either tourism purposes or as the Chief Minister’s office, in light of the planned relocation of the State capital to Visakhapatnam. A final decision on the matter is expected in the near future. This significant redevelopment project is anticipated to serve as a catalyst for the revitalisation of Andhra Pradesh’s tourism industry.
