Revolutionising diversity and inclusion through AI

Emerged as a transformative force and dedicated to narrowing the gender diversity gap within the corporate landscape is none other than this women-led organisation Sama, established by the dynamic duo of Mridvika Raisinghani, CEO, and Payoshni Saraf, COO.
The genesis of Sama traces back to the founders’ recognition of a stark reality: while nearly 50% of Indian college graduates are women, a mere 39% join the workforce, and their numbers drastically dwindle as they ascend the corporate hierarchy. Alarmed by the persistently declining female labour force participation rates, especially in urban areas, the founders identified the need for a proactive solution to address this critical issue.
Speaking to The Pioneer, Mridvika Raisinghani, CEO, said, “Payoshni and I began our journey by the line of inquiry, where we spoke to over 300 women across various life phases and diverse professionals in the corporate world. The majority of them expressed that they are not being valued or given value in the workforce. Apart from that, a lot of women quit the workforce because of low pay for the same position and not being offered or given decision-making roles. They are not finding enough support at their workplaces. Despite many corporations having policies of gender equality, they are not implementing them properly, thereby leading to the dwindling of women in the workforce.”
In order to solve this issue, they launched an AI-based tool, predictive analytics (model), that helps organisations predict the turnover of women by organising programs and interventions to retain women in the workforce. This model meticulously analyses hundreds of data points, offering CHROs and CXOs the ability to identify vulnerable subsets of their workforce and preemptively address potential attrition risks. By delving into common pain points and facilitating proactive retention measures, Sama not only positively impacts a company’s bottom line but also ensures the maintenance of gender diversity within its workforce.

She shares that we need to create business space for women employees. Moreover, the majority of employers think that due to social impact or non-profit services, women are in the corporate landscape.

Ending the chat on a brighter note, she says, “WE Hub has helped us a lot since the startup’s incubation period. The officials introduced us to many fundraisers, organisations, etc., which helped us establish our firm.”
