District Collector V Prasanna Venkatesh conducted a surprise inspection at the Kamavarpukota check-post. He checked some vehicles at the checkpoint.
The checkpost was set up at Kamavarpukota after the election notification was issued. The Collector examined the register and directed the Statistic Survey lines team to be vigilant in conducting checking of vehicles. He directed the police officials to check every vehicle passing through the check-post.
Later talking to the media, Collector Prasanna Venkatesh said that so far Rs 88.05 lakh cash and Rs 56.10 lakh worth of liquor had been seized during the checking of vehicles in the district.
The Collector said that he had ordered the officials to video graph the checking of vehicles. The seized cash would be deposited in the treasury, he said, adding that proper receipt would be issued to the seized cash and valuables.
He said that an extensive vigil had been laid across the district to ensure that the political parties do not lure or tempt voters. He said that 46 flying squads, 10 surveillance teams and 24 video surveillance teams were set up in the district and deployed to various parts of the district.
Kamavarapukota Tahasildar JVR Ramesh told the media that during the checking of vehicles on Friday, 102 vehicles were checked and Rs 79,000 cash was seized.
