The Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) caught two police officers attached to Madhapur police station for allegedly demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 30,000.
The main accused was M Ranjit Kumar, a Sub-Inspector of Police at Madhapur Police Station, Cyberabad.
He was arrested by the ACB, Ranga Reddy Unit, after he allegedly demanded Rs 50,000 in bribe and accepted Rs 30,000 from Mudavath Laxman, a resident of Sainagar Tanda, near Madhapur Police Station.
Ranjit Kumar and the second accused, Station Writer Vikram from Madhapur Police Station, were arrested and produced before the first Additional Special Judge for SPE and ACB cases, Court of Nampally, Hyderabad.
The bribe was intended for not arresting the complainant and resolve the matter in Lok Adalat, the officer thereby abusing his duty, represents a breach of public trust and dishonesty.
The bribe amount was seized from the possession of the second accused from a computer drawer in his office. The case remains under investigation.
