Section 144 in view of LS nominations: CP Avinash

Strict vigilance over rowdy-sheeters and the importance of check posts at strategic locations for inspections were emphasised by Cyberabad Commissioner of Police Avinash Mahanty, during a review meeting held on Tuesday. The meeting was attended by Cyberabad Zonal DCPs, Additional DCPs, ACPs, and other officials, focused on discussing security arrangements and precautions for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
Section 144 Cr.P.C will be imposed at the Lok sabha nomination centres, Malkajgiri office of the District Collector, Medchal Malkajgiri district and the Chevella office of the Returning Officer at office of the Tahsildhar, Rajendranagar mandal, Premavathipet (V), Ranga Reddy district.
This order is effective from 9 am to 6 pm, April 18, 2024, to April 29, 2024, at all Returning Offices (ROs) within the Cyberabad Commissionerate’s jurisdiction. Any violation of this order will result in prosecution under Section 144 Cr.PC.
During the meeting, CP Mahanty emphasised the importance of conducting the elections smoothly and in compliance with Election Commission guidelines. He stressed the need to avoid any errors during the electoral process.
Suggestions were made to establish check posts at strategic locations across Cyberabad and to conduct thorough inspections, particularly focusing on detecting illegal money and liquor distribution.
CP Mahanty gave specific instructions regarding election duties to subordinates, along with the organisation of awareness meetings to train the staff with election rules. Visible policing is advised as a priority.
Officers and staff were advised to have a detailed understanding of election rules and to proactively manage polling centers under their jurisdiction.
Officials emphasized the importance of maintaining alertness at the ground level and monitoring bind over the rowdy sheeters attempting to disrupt election procedures. Critical polling centers were identified for increased security measures.
