The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) has collected Rs 623 crore in property tax with the help of Early Bird Scheme (EBS) till April 27 and a GHMC official said that for this year the GHMC would collect more than Rs 800 crore. This scheme has started from April 1 to 30 for the financial year 2024-25.
Chief Valuation Officer of GHMC Kulkarni said more than 5.50 lakh citizens utilised this scheme. He said, “Last year GHMC collected Rs 766 crore through the scheme. This financial year we are assessing that we will cross last year’s collections”.
There are 5 zones and 30 circles in the GHMC. “Serilingampally zone and Khairatabad zone are top in the property tax collection and the lowest is from Charminar zone”, he mentioned.
This scheme offers a 5 per cent rebate to those who pay their property tax. Approximately there are around 19 lakh tax assessments in the city. Most people would take advantage of the early bird scheme in the last three days.
Citizens can pay their property tax through GHMC website, My GHMC application, or GHMC Service Centres. Also People can utilise this scheme at the citizens centers of GHMC head office and circle office from 8 am to 11 pm.
