Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy has asserted that those who claim to be the heirs of YS Rajasekhar Reddy have allied with his adversaries to undermine Avinash Reddy’s prospects in the Kadapa Lok Sabha seat. ‘They aim to create a political void in the district, but I am confident that Avinash will secure a resounding victory,” he said.
During his address to the people in Kadapa in support of Avinash Reddy on Friday, Jagan Mohan Reddy said, “After the demise of my father Dr Rajasekhara Reddy, I departed from Congress and contested independently for the Kadapa seat, founding the YSR Congress Party (YSRCP). The overwhelming victory, backed by 5.45 lakh people, underscored unwavering support. When I assumed office as MP in Delhi, all eyes turned to Jagan,” the CM recounted.
“In their efforts to tarnish the political legacy of the YSR family, they employed every agency against us.
Now, the same Congress intends to pay homage to YSR Ghat in Idupulapaya. The party that denigrated my father and wrongfully detained me for 16 months is now paying respects at his grave. Voting for Congress would betray the YSR legacy,” CM Jagan emphasised.
Furthermore, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy remarked, “Chandrababu Naidu deals with BJP by day and Congress by night.”
“We have allocated 7 seats with 4 per cent political reservation for minorities. Urdu has been designated as the second official language, and we have appointed minorities as MLCs and MLAs, even appointing a minority brother as the deputy chief minister and a woman minority leader as vice-president of the Legislative Council,” CM Jagan highlighted.
CM Jagan also questioned Chandrababu’s alliance with the NDA despite opposing minority reservations. “It is unacceptable to manipulate Muslim reservations for political gains. We stand in solidarity with minorities on issues like NRC and CAA. However, Chandrababu allied with BJP to revoke the 4 per cent reservation for Muslims. Can Chandrababu advocate for Muslim reservations in Modi’s presence?” queried CM Jagan.
“I didn’t initiate welfare assistance just before elections. It has been distributed according to the welfare calendar for the past five years. The administration is being obstructed not by my government, but by the voices of impoverished students, women, and farmers at 57 months. If you aspire to uplift the lives of the underprivileged, vote for the Fan,” CM Jagan urged.
Chief Minister Jagan likened the upcoming election to the Kurukshetra war, stating, “The impending election isn’t merely about electing MPs and MLAs but about sustaining welfare schemes for the next five years. Voting for Jagan ensures continuity of all schemes, while a mistake in voting for Chandrababu would terminate them,” he said.
“We have executed over Rs 2.70 lakh crore under DBT without discrimination by pressing the button 130 times. Did this occur during the previous administration?” queried CM Jagan.
“The opposition used to present vibrant manifestos during elections, only to discard them post-polls. However, we have implemented 99% of the guarantees in the manifesto, unlike the previous administration,” CM Jagan asserted.
The Chief Minister also showcased Chandrababu and TDP’s failed promises from their 2014 manifesto pamphlet, asking the crowd if any of these promises were fulfilled. “He governed for 14 years. If you mention Chandrababu, will any impoverished person recall even one positive contribution?” he questioned.
Highlighting Chandrababu Naidu’s unfulfilled promises, CM Jagan stated, “He pledged a farm loan waiver of Rs 87,612 crore, waiving saving society loans worth Rs 14,205 crore, and a Rs 25,000 deposit under the Mahalakshmi scheme for the birth of a girl child. Not a single rupee was deposited.”
“Unemployment benefit of Rs 2,000 per month was pledged to every household. Did he provide Rs 1.20 lakh to each household at Rs 2,000 per month for five years?” Chief Minister Jagan inquired.
“Special Category Status for Andhra, 3 cents of land for eligible individuals, BC sub-plan with Rs 10,000 crores, waiver of loans for handloom and power loom weavers, Women Protection Force, and development surpassing Singapore—all promised but not a single scheme was implemented by Chandrababu Naidu,” CM Jagan lamented.
Earlier in the day, Jagan Mohan Reddy addressed election rallies at Mangalagiri and Nagari.
