2,600 voter awareness  programmes conducted in Eluru

District Collector and District Election Officer V Prasanna Venkatesh said that over 2600 SVEEP programmes were conducted across Eluru district in order to create awareness among voters and make them exercise their right of vote in the election.
 Voter awareness programs including ‘Systematic Voters Education Electoral Participation (SVEEP)’ conducted in the district  contributed to significantly increase the voting percentage in the 2024 General election held on May 13, the Collector said.
In the 2019 General election 83.75 voting percentage was recorded in the 7 assembly constituencies in  Eluru district. In the 2024 elections, the voting percentage increased to 84.82 percent along with the postal ballot. .Extensive SVEEP programs in Eluru district with public participation contributed to this record voting. The SVEEP Nodal Officer & District Grama Panchayat Officer Tutika Srinivasa Viswanadh said that the Voter Turnout Implementation Plan-2024 (TIP-2024) held for 90 days to create awareness among voters in the district with the aim of increasing the voter turnout in the 2024 elections and appointed DGPO as SVEEP Nodal Officer and monitored entire programs through the Control Room.  
DGPO Srinivasa Viswanadh said extensive SVEEP programs were implemented in Eluru District and awareness programs were conducted among the voters in 7 constituencies this includes setting up Booth Level Association Groups (BAG), at promotion of Chunav Patashala at Booth levels among tribal and rural voters, setting up Campus Ambassadors, folk programs called Kalajatha organized in 547 Grama Panchayats, setting up extensive literacy camps, awareness seminars in urban areas to remove urban empathy, discussion forums with Women Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Mukha Mukhi (face-to-face) programs with first-time fresh voters contributed in increasing of polling percentage.The Collector appealed to 16,37,430 voters with the slogans of “Randi.. Kadali Randi’ ‘Vote is not only our right’ ‘It is our responsibility.

As the call went viral on all social media, a large number of voters exercised their right to vote, the DGPO said.
