MLC pollsPoliticos use automated calls to woo voters

Must read

Though it is a party-less election for the Legislative Council, every political party and leaders are seeking votes in the name of their party. Irrespective of political party, all three parties are using automated telephone calls to voters who are going to vote in the MLC byelection for Nalgonda -Warangal -Khammam on May 27. The  leaders are mentioning the candidate’s serial number in the ballot paper.
It seems that the BRS is using technology much more than any other party. Voters are getting calls wherein pre-recorded messages from BRS MLC candidate Rakesh Reddy, party working president K Tarakarama Rao and Siddipet MLA Harish Rao are being transmitted. Most of them are from Rakesh Reddy asking to vote for him to fight for getting the guarantees of the Congress implemented.  In a call, Harish Rao said, “Give your valuable vote to educated, gold medalist and a fighter Rakesh Reddy. KCR announced Rakesh Reddy as a candidate for the graduate MLC elections. Everyone knows what is happening in the State. The Congress has deceived the unemployed and every other sector. Before the elections, they promised to implement guarantees in 100 days, but they did not do it.”
Along with those automated calls, leaders from the local areas are also calling voters and asking them to vote for their party’s candidate. A voter named Umesh said, “I am getting irritated as I am getting more than seven calls a day.  I am habituated to sleep daily in the afternoon. Every day these political leaders are waking me up. It is very annoying.”
Though the Congress is using the same campaigning technique to woo voters, the party is somewhat behind in the campaigning for MLC elections. The number of auto-generated calls and direct calls from the leaders are less when compared to the other two parties.  The BJP went ahead and used people to call voters directly and requested the voters to vote for their candidate Gujjala Premendar Reddy. Other than those three candidates, voters are not getting any automated calls or direct calls from others.
