Former Minister Mahmood Ali, at a press meet at Telangana Bhavan, accused the Revanth government of neglecting minority welfare. He expressed displeasure over the decision to hand over electricity bill collections in Hyderabad’s Old City to the Adani group, calling it an insult to minorities. Ali criticised Revanth Reddy, saying that “while Rahul Gandhi opposes Adani, Revanth welcomes him.”
Ali pointed out that K Chandrashekar Rao, when he was chief minister, allocated Rs 2,000 crore annually for minorities in the budget, while Revanth Reddy promised Rs 4,000 crore if Congress cames to power. He challenged the Congress to prove its sincerity by allocating Rs 4,000 crore for minorities in the upcoming budget. He highlighted that under Congress, there were no residential schools for minorities, whereas KCR established 204 residential schools, upgrading them to junior colleges and degree colleges.
Mahmood Ali emphasised KCR’s dedication to providing quality education for minorities. He questioned the Congress government’s decision to convert the Anees-ul-Ghurba orphanage building, constructed by KCR, into a residential headquarters. He also lamented the lack of a minority minister in the Congress government, contrasting it with KCR appointing a Home Minister from the minority community.
Ali noted that even though a minority leader was nominated as an MLC under the Governor’s quota during Congress rule, it never materialised. He expressed concern over the deteriorating law and order situation in the Old City and the rise in communal clashes under the Congress government, asserting that KCR maintained peace and security during his decade-long rule.
He accused the Congress of acting as B-team of the BJP, pointing out the warm welcome Revanth Reddy extended to Chandrababu Naidu, who is aligned with the BJP. Ali criticised Revanth for befriending the BJP locally while Rahul Gandhi fights them in Delhi.
He acknowledged Naidu ‘s statement that Telangana has the highest per capita income in the country, attributing it to KCR’s efforts and urging Revanth not to ignore these facts.
Mahmood Ali concluded by emphasising KCR’s significant contributions to Telangana’s development, predicting that the world will recognise his achievements. He criticised the Revanth government for not taking any steps towards the welfare of minorities despite receiving their votes in the parliamentary elections. He urged the Congress government to fulfill its election promises to minorities immediately
