The Public Relations Society of India (PRSI), Hyderabad Chapter, in collaboration with NMDC, celebrated World PR Day by organising an event on Tuesday. The 70th edition of PR Voice was released to mark the occasion.
Prof. Joshua Dalrymple, the Dean of the School of Law at Woxsen University, was the distinguished speaker.
Prof. Dalrymple, an established lawyer in the USA, called upon PR professionals to acquire new skills to stay afloat in the menacingly changing technological landscape. He said, “We all are amidst an information tsunami and the deadly sharks of fake news and misinformation that come with it. There is a need for an intersection of PR and legal frameworks within organisations.”
He also shared real-world examples that highlighted the importance of synergy between these two functions. Delving into a case study, he illustrated the practical applications of effective collaboration, demonstrating how strategic communication and legal prudence can work hand-in-hand to safeguard and enhance an organization’s reputation. The Chairman of the PRSI Hyderabad chapter, Dr S Ramu, said that PR professionals with legal degrees have an edge over others in the fast-changing communication landscape.
Head of NMDC Corporate Communication (CC), Jay Prakash said that PR practitioners should develop the habit of multi-tasking to deal with several challenges posed by the information influx.
The Editor of the PR Voice, Y Babji, a practicing advocate himself, said that legal knowledge for PR professionals is a must now. NMDC ADG (CC) Sreenivasa Rao said that PR transformed in a big along with technical revolution.
