Chief Minister Nara Chandrababu Naidu has met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in Delhi and sought special assistance in the budget to overcome the present situation due to State bifurcation and the ‘destructive YSRCP rule’. The Parliament sessions will commence from July 23.
After reaching the national capital on Tuesday night, the CM met Amit Shah at his Krishna Menon Marg residence and the meeting lasted an hour. During the meeting, Chandrababu requested the Centre to provide special assistance to the State to recover from the current financial crisis. He appealed to the Centre to pay special attention and allocate funds for the construction of Amaravati and Polavaram projects, and to find speedy solutions to the issues mentioned in the Reorganisation Act. The CM sought financial help for the repair of damaged roads. He also appealed to sanction new national highways and railways to connect different parts of the State.
The CM urged that the establishment of Visakha Railway Zone should be completed immediately and the Central government should take the initiative to set up industrial corridors. Taking note of the fact that Andhra Pradesh has the lowest per capita income in South India, Chandrababu requested that incentives be provided for the establishment of industries suitable for job and employment generation in the State. Keeping in view the reconstruction of Andhra Pradesh, the people of the State have given a great victory to the NDA alliance, the CM pointed out. He appealed to make allocations in the budget that will fulfil their aspirations.
Chandrababu posted on X: “Today in New Delhi, I met with the Union Home Minister, Shri @AmitShah Ji, to apprise him of the devastating condition of finances that Andhra Pradesh had slipped into over the past five years. I also discussed the findings of the four White Papers released, outlining the staggering debt accumulated between FY 2019-24 that spiralled our State’s finances out of control. Economic incompetence, gross mismanagement, and rampant corruption by the previous government have caused irreparable damage to our State.”
“Honouring the mandate given by our people to the NDA, the Central and State governments will devise a comprehensive recovery plan and bring the State’s economy back on track. We shall fulfil people’s aspirations together,” said Chandrababu.
State Finance Minister Payyavula Keshav, Union Ministers Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu and Pemmasani Chandrasekhar and TDP parliamentary party leader L Srikrishnadevaraya accompanied the CM.
