Deputy Chief Minister Bhatti Vikramarka Mallu addressed the Assembly regarding the Job Calendar on Thursday. He said that the Job Calendar is being announced in advance and is currently being implemented. He highlighted the issues faced under the BRS government, including question paper leaks and exam postponements and emphasised the efforts to reform the TG Public Service Commission. In his speech, Bhatti pointed out the commitment of the government headed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy to fulfilling the hopes of the unemployed by releasing the Job Calendar. He mentioned the problems during the BRS government’s tenure when job notifications were cancelled or postponed, question papers leaked and exam dates overlapped. Specifically, he noted that the Group 1 exam was cancelled twice: once due to a paper leak on March 17, 2023, and again on February 19, 2024, due to a High Court ruling over the failure to capture candidates’ biometrics. The Chief Minister and the Civil Supplies Minister consulted the UPSC Chairman to solve these problems and established a committee consisting of senior IAS officers to study the procedures of the UPSC and the Kerala Public Service Commission. Consequently, an additional 60 posts were added to the Group 1 notification bringing the total to 563 vacancies for which a new notification was issued and its results were announced.
The main exams are scheduled from October 21 to 27 this year. After taking office, appointment orders have been issued to 32,410 unemployed youth. Additionally, the recruitment to 13,505 posts is in the final stages. A DSC notification was released to fill 11,022 teacher vacancies. Due to insufficient time between Group 1, Group 2, and Group 3 exams, the Group 2 exams scheduled for August 7 and 8 were postponed to December as per the request of the unemployed. The Cabinet meeting held on August 1, 2024, discussed and approved the Job Calendar for 2024-25 and issued it to all Members.
