MP CM Ramesh reaffirmed the alliance government’s unwavering commitment to the ambitious Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanti project, aimed at providing essential drinking and irrigation water to the area. Addressing a media conference at the MP camp office in Anakapalli on Monday, Ramesh emphasized the importance of this project for the local population and outlined the government’s plans for the upcoming local body elections.
Ramesh highlighted the central government’s approval of the SC classification, praising the Prime Minister’s dedication to fulfilling a long-standing election promise. He underscored the alliance’s strategic positioning for the local body elections, confirming that an alliance candidate will be in the fray.
In a major infrastructure boost, Ramesh announced the approval of a six-lane national highway connecting Visakhapatnam to Vijayawada. The tenders for this project will be called soon, with work expected to commence shortly. Additionally, ongoing surveys for a national highway from Tuni to Narsipatnam, Madugula, Chodavaram, and Kothavalasa promise to pave the way for industrial development in the region.
Significant efforts are being made to enhance agricultural logistics, with special arrangements underway to transport locally grown fruits by train, a move that will greatly benefit betel nut farmers near Payakaraopet. Ramesh also shared positive updates from the Railway Minister regarding the development of Anakapalli railway station into a model station.
Furthering the region’s industrial prospects, authorities have been directed to acquire 5,000 acres of land to establish an industrial corridor near Madugula and Chodavaram. The Uttarandhra Sujala Sravanti scheme aims to bring Polavaram water to Anakapalli, with the Detailed Project Report (DPR) currently being prepared. Within the next one or two years, Godavari water is expected to reach the area via the Polavaram Left Canal.
Ramesh expressed optimism about the potential for setting up hydrogen companies in the district and mentioned ongoing efforts to create a furniture manufacturing cluster, which would generate substantial employment opportunities. Addressing infrastructure challenges, he noted the recent rain damage to district roads and has ordered immediate patchwork repairs. He criticized the previous government for diverting Rs. 400 crore of New Development Bank funds, resulting in the current poor state of the roads. The alliance government plans a permanent solution, with road repairs set to start soon, and completion of patchwork on national highways damaged by rains. Confirming the alliance candidate’s participation in the upcoming MLC elections for local bodies, Ramesh stated that CM Chandrababu is expected to announce the candidate within a day or two. Emphasizing the importance of united support, Ramesh has already discussed the matter with district MLAs, BJP, and Jana Sena leaders.
