District Collector Koya Sri Harsha on Tuesday inspected the works related to filling potholes on roads in various colonies of the Ramagundam Municipal Corporation and asked the officials to take steps to complete the works by August 9.
He inspected the Salapalli road, road in Godavarikhani bus stand area and Kalyani Nagar roads and asked the officials to take steps to fill the potholes. As part of the second day of the state government’s Swachhadanam-Pachha danam programme, he wanted the officials to ensure supply of pure drinking water.
The water tankers in the city should be cleaned thoroughly. The drinking water supplied daily should be chlorinated. He directed the officials to test the quality of potable water being supplied to people. Water samples should be tested at the source, at mid-point and at the end-point, he said, asking the officials to ensure supply of drinking water to slums and SC and ST colonies. He directed the civic officials to find out the buildings constructed on sites with site area measuring more than 300 square yards and ensure that these structures have rain-water-harvesting pits.
The drinking water tanks and ponds should be safeguarded and plans should be prepared for their revival, he said, asking the district officials to find out suitable site for construction of a new library building. Rama- gundam municipal commissioner Srikant and other officials also accompanied the collector.
