Minister for Revenue, Housing and Information and Public Relations Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy on Wednesday had a meeting with South Central Railway (SCR) General Manager Arun Kumar Jain and urged him to make changes in the alignment of railway tracks to be built through Khammam and Warangal districts.
The proposed railway track from Dornakal to Kusumanchi in Khammam district via Naikgudem and from Mothe to Gadwal in Suryapet district, passes through four mandals of his Palair Assembly constituency alienating the cultivable lands, the Minister said, asking the SCR General Manager to change the alignment of the railway  line. He asked the General Manager to find an alternative route.
Taking into consideration, the Kakatiya Urban Development Authority’s master plan for development of Warangal, he asked the SCR t o develop a city by-pass railway line. The State government gives top priority to the development of Warangal city. Keeping in tune with the future needs of the people of the city, the government is readying the master plan for 2050.
Against this backdrop, the Railways should link the proposed railway line from Nashkal to Hasanparty to the Warangal master plan development. The current railway line would come in the way of implementing the Warangal Master plan for development. Therefore, keeping all these in mind, the SCR should change the alignment.
Roads and Buildings special secretary Dasari Hari Chandana and others were present.
