100 Anna Canteens opened across State

The state government had pledged to reopen Anna Canteens after returning to power, and, as promised, 100 Anna Canteens were opened on Independence Day, Thursday. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu, along with his wife, Bhuvaneswari, relaunched the canteens in Gudivada, Krishna district. The couple also served meals and dined with the poor.
Of the 100 Anna Canteens launched today, the highest numbers were in NTR and Guntur districts, with 14 each. Srikakulam had 3 canteens, Vizianagaram 2, East Godavari 5, Eluru 5, Kakinada 8, Konaseema 2, Krishna 5, West Godavari 8, Bapatla 4, Nellore 9, Palnadu 9, Prakasam 5, Annamayya 2, Chittoor 3, and Sri Satya Sai district 2.
Minister P. Narayana has been actively involved in overseeing the relaunch of Anna Canteens. He inspected the Akshayapatra Kitchen in Atmakur, Mangalagiri Mandal, Guntur district, and confirmed that arrangements for food distribution to the canteens were in place. The minister stated that Akshaya Patra secured the food distribution contract for the Anna Canteens and praised the modern and hygienic kitchen facilities. He also mentioned that the government plans to open 180 canteens in urban areas and over 200 in rural areas, with a focus on locations near markets and hospitals where poor people gather.
Each canteen will serve food to approximately 350 people, with the number increasing based on demand.
The minister also provided details about the food served in the canteens: 3 pieces of Idli/Puri, 250 grams of Upma or Pongal, 400 grams of Rice, 15 grams of Chutney/Chutney Powder, 120 grams of Dal, 150 grams of Sambar, 25 grams of Mixture, 100 grams of Curry, and 75 grams of Curd. The canteen timings are as follows: Breakfast from 7:30 am to 10:00 am, Lunch from 12:30 pm to 3:00 pm, and Dinner from 7:30 pm to 9:00 pm.
