Legislative Council Chairman K Moshen Raju has recalled that the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi had brought revolutionary changes in the Telecom sector in India. Congress leaders including Moshen Raju, former MP K Bapiraju and MLA Pulaarti Ramanjaneyulu (Anjibabu) paid tributes to Rajiv Gandhi by garlanding the statue which was reinstalled at Gunupudi near here on Tuesday.
Speaking on the occasion, the Legislative Council Chairman recalled that Rajiv Gandhi sacrificed his life for the integrity of the country. He exhorted all to draw inspiration from Rajiv Gandhi. The statue of Rajiv Gandhi is not for paying tributes by garlanding it but it is to create inspiration to the next generations, he asserted. Â
Reinstalling the statue of former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi is great, he said. India is leading in the telecommunication sector now because of the foundation laid by the then Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi, Moshen Raju observed.
Because of Rajiv Gandhi’s foresightedness and his vision led to the mobile phone revolution in the country, he lauded Rajiv Gandhi.
Ex-MP Kanumuri Bapiraju, JSP district president Kotikalapudi Govinda Rao and Congress party city in-charge A Sitaram also spoke. It may be mentioned here that the Rajiv Gandhi statue was installed here in 1992 which became dilapidated forcing the Congress leaders to reinstall a new statue.
