The foregoing golden words of the American philosopher speak a lot about how a leader should be and his actions. A leader may lead a few people, but a visionary rules the world with his forward-thinking and farsightedness. In independent India, there has been no dearth of netas but there is woeful lack of leaders who have vision, a sense of time, and the rare ability to see things far ahead of their time. The second coming to power of Chandrababu Naidu in the bifurcated Andhra Pradesh has heralded a hope for development, a hope for the future, fruitful and sustained living. Three decades ago as the chief minister of combined Andhra Pradesh, Chandrababu Naidu had visualised Vision 2020 and accordingly took many steps as the head of the government to make undivided Andhra Pradesh stand in the forefront of development. And after 30 years.. the same leader took the reins of power and heralded Vision 47, aiming to make the state a developed one on the lines of Viksit Bharat, with simple government, effective governance, and people-centric administration as its pillars.
From demographic management to effective utilisation of the available human resources and providing basic infrastructure that caters to the needs and requirements of the state are all part of the Vision 47 document, which, if faithfully taken forward, will surely make the state of Andhra Pradesh as stately on the path of comprehensive development and progress. Development does not come in isolation; it needs the necessary wherewithal to make it happen. This is what is taking place in Andhra Pradesh where everything is required to be taken care of from the beginning.. From energy conservation to effective utilisation of available resources.. the government has embarked on a path of welfare-oriented development, which includes providing employment to the educated and ensuring the provision of necessary facilities for good and proper education and providing the much-needed infrastructure to make the state industry-friendly.
After all, Chandrababu was the man who had laid a strong foundation for the development of Hyderabad of today. Nothing happens out of nothing, it is visionary thinking that matters finally. Janmabhoomi, Clean and Green, and HI-TEC City all speak of a leader in Naidu whose hunger for development is obvious. All the efforts have given fruits of development to the people of Telangana wherein the per capita income is among the best in the nation. Naidu saw a golden opportunity for Andhra Pradesh even during the period of economic reforms brought by then prime minister PV Narasimha Rao. He initiated the much-needed steps for the then Andhra Pradesh and went ahead with his plan of action.
After the bifurcation of Andhra Pradesh, his urge to make the state developed became stronger, which led to the formulation of Sunrise Vision 2029 in 2014 during his regime as the first Chief Minister in 2014. He continued the same spirit of leadership by gathering everything to make the state stand on its own despite the loss of capital. It is continuity that matters for everything to fructify. Andhra Pradesh did not have continuity of his leadership from 2019 to 2025 and as a result everything went topsy-turvy. The people of Andhra Pradesh have realised the need for a leader of his level of thinking and gave the alliance a thumping majority. This heralded a second stint for Naidu as the Chief Minister of divided Andhra Pradesh.
The new government has taken steps, starting from ensuring accountability in the administration to proper implementation of the schemes intended to benefit the people. A hundred-day plan for the Administration is intended to make the bureaucracy realise its responsibility and accountability. A government is not at all a government if it fails to fulfill its responsibilities toward the people. Taking this as the foundational accountability of the government, Naidu’s administration has taken steps in a way that never fails to deliver the desired benefits to the people.
One of the targets of the government is to take steps to enhance the per capita income of people on par with those of people in far more developed states. If people are involved in the development process and their active participation is ensured, nothing can stop the state on the path of development. Australia, New Zealand, and Sweden are some of the nations which have active people participation in the administrative process.
It is really a dawn of development for Andhra Pradesh and there is a government that is both accountable and responsible under a leader who never sleeps and never allows others to sleep as far as the progress of the state is concerned.
