Krishna district Collector DK Balaji has said that over 400 rain-affected victims have been shifted to 13 relief centres, set up at various places in the district.
The Collector told the media on Sunday that one team was allocated to each island village to monitor the shifting operation. He appealed to the people living in low-lying areas and island villages to go to the relief camps.
The Collector said that all required facilities were provided in the relief centres.  He said that because of heavy flow to the Budameru rivulet, vehicular traffic was suspended at various places as a precautionary measure.  All steps were taken to ensure that the embankment of the river Krishna was not breached. The officials were asked to identify where the bund was weak and strengthen it by dumping sand bags, he stated. The Collector said that all educational institutions declared a holiday on Monday also.
Meanwhile, the people living in the river bed, Krishna Karakatta, at Yanamalakuduru and Pedapulipaka areas were asked to leave to the relief camps as the Prakasam barrage is receiving over 10 lakh cusecs of water
