Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu visited Ajitsingh Nagar and other areas affected by heavy rains over the past two days. Following a tour of the inundated regions in an NDRF boat, the Chief Minister addressed the media, expressing deep concern over the thousands of residents suffering as floodwaters have breached their homes.
Naidu remarked that the entire area has been inundated by Budameru water, impacting thousands of people. He stated, “I have never witnessed such a situation in Vijayawada throughout my political career.” He assured the public that he would take up residence in the affected area and monitor the situation regularly until normalcy is restored.
The Chief Minister attributed the breach of Budameru to the previous YSRCP government’s negligence and inadequate maintenance of bunds.
Chandrababu pledged that boats would be deployed to distribute food and water to those in need, noting that approximately 25,000 individuals have been affected by the flooding. He advised that elderly, ill, and young children could use the boats for transport. He also urged residents of apartment buildings to accommodate displaced families on higher floors until conditions improve.
The Chief Minister assured that NDRF teams will assist residents and that hourly monitoring will be conducted.
