BRS govt suppressed media with an iron hand: Ponguleti

Must read

The BRS government suppressed the media with an iron hand, Revenue, Housing and Information and Public Relations (I & PR) Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said.
He said that former Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao used to answer only questions which he liked.
“KCR used to question media personnel saying, “Sit down. Which is your newspaper? However, there is full freedom under the Congress government. The government is not troubling journalists even if they write reports criticising the Chief Minister and Ministers even if they are false. Freedom prevails in Indiramma Rajyam. During BRS rule, journalists used to wait for the Chief Minister. Now there is no such situation. The media should project what the people want. We are seeing how Yellow papers and Pink friends are projecting news,” Ponguleti said.
Addressing the Jawaharlal Nehru Journalists Housing Society’s (JNJHS) meeting at which Chief Minister Revanth Reddy handed over the Pet Basheerabad land’s memo to JNJHS at the Ravindra Bharati on Sunday, the I&PR Minister said that Indiramma Rajyam has been established by the people of Telangana with the support of media friends.
He said that the 18-year-long dream of journalists has been achieved and that he had discussed with the Chief Minister about journalists’ house sites. He said 1105 journalists have become crorepatis now after the allotment of sites. Ponguleti said that HYDRAA is a wonderful programme, however, the people are seeing how they (Pink Friends) are projecting it. BRS leaders are politicking using the floods. However, the CM has not filed a single case against anyone and there would not be any such situation in future either. However, some are engaged in mudslinging, he said and added that they have not realised their mistake even though the people taught them a lesson.
