Officials told to assess damage caused by rains, floods

Anita Ramachandran, Commissioner of Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Department and District Nodal Officer, Relief and Permanent Reconstruction, on Sunday directed the officials to prepare the estimates of the damage caused by the heavy rains and floods in the last week of last month and the first week of this month with full care.
On Sunday, she held a review meeting at the District collector’s Office, along with District Collector C Narayana Reddy, on the various types of damage caused by the recent heavy rains in the district.
She said that heavy rains and floods occurred across the State, causing loss of life and property, and the State government has directed all the districts to prepare damage estimates. She said that Nalgonda is also one of the districts affected by heavy rains and as part of this, if there is any death of people and cattle, as well as complete collapse of pachyderms, kutcha houses, partial damage to huts in Nalgonda district due to heavy rains, then estimates should be prepared as per government rules and submitted immediately. He said that the details of damage assessment including photos and proofs should be submitted. Similarly, if the crops, fisheries, irrigation tanks, R & B, Panchayati Raj roads, drinking water sources, electricity, Anganwadi centres, school buildings and other government buildings have been damaged or fallen due to rains, then they should submit the details in the form prescribed by the government along with the details of the damage. She was instructed to prepare all the evidence and submit it immediately.
As soon as the meeting began, District Collector C Narayana Reddy explained the damage caused by the recent heavy rains and floods in the district through a power point presentation including figures and photos.
