The NCC units of Andhra Loyola College, including the 17 (A) Battalion NCC Army Wing, 8 (A) Naval Unit, 8 (A) Air Squadron NCC, and the 3 (A) Remount & Veterinary Regiment, in collaboration with the Indian Red Cross Society, AP State Branch, organised a programme at the Bishop Mummadi Seminar Hall in Andhra Loyola College to commemorate World First Aid Day.
In his presidential address, Rev Fr Kiran Kumar, Vice Principal of Andhra Loyola College, emphasised the importance of acquiring First Aid knowledge to assist individuals in emergencies. He urged the Red Cross to conduct programmes on campus to raise awareness about life-saving techniques and CPR among students.
BVS Kumar, State Coordinator of Blood Banks & Projects for the AP Red Cross, highlighted the necessity of learning life-saving techniques from a young age and advocated for the inclusion of First Aid as part of the curriculum. He noted that First Aid, using locally available resources within the critical golden hour, can save lives before professional medical care is available. Kumar assured that the Red Cross would conduct numerous First Aid programmes at Loyola College to ensure that all students and staff are proficient in First Aid and prepared to save lives in emergencies.
Priyanka, a Licensed Master Trainer from St John Ambulance, New Delhi, provided the NCC cadets with training in life-saving techniques, demonstrating how to handle emergencies and administer First Aid to victims.
