Krishna District Collector DK Balaji has instructed the officials concerned to take precautionary steps to avoid untoward incidents during the immersion of Ganesh idols in the Bay of Bengal, River Krishna and various irrigation tanks in the district. “The police should make necessary security arrangements at idol immersion points,” he said.
In view of the Ganesh idol immersion, the Collector convened a tele-conference with all district-level officers including the police from his chamber on Sunday.
Immersion will be held at Manginapudi, Tallapalem, Satrayapalem, Pedapatnam, Srikakulam, Tadigadapa, Yanalamalakuduru etc. Officials should deploy rescue teams at all immersion points. Floodlights should be set up, he said.
Further, he said the police should be vigilant and make adequate security arrangements for the smooth conduct of the ritual. Maintain law and order in the district. Particularly, special teams should be formed to prevent any kind of nuisance at the time of idol immersion, he added.
Krishna District Superintendent of Police (SP) R Gangadhara Rao, DPO Nageswara Naik, District Fisheries Officer Chandrasekhar, Fire Officer Yesuratnam, and several DSPs and Municipal Commissioners attended the tele-conference.
