BRS Govt issued only 49,000 ration cards, says Ponguleti

The BRS government issued just 49,000 ration cards to the poor that too only in places where by-elections were being held to ensure the victory of their candidate, Revenue, Housing, I & PR Minister Ponguleti Srinivas Reddy said.
He said the Congress government will issue smart ration cards and smart health cards from October.
Speaking to the media after a meeting of the Cabinet Sub-Committee on Ration Cards on Monday, he said the Committee had four meetings so far.
The Minister said that 16 public representatives had replied to the letters addressed by Chief Minister Revanth Reddy seeking suggestions. He said the Cabinet sub-committee is ready to accept advice from the opposition too.
He said that there are 90 lakh ration cards in the state and the government will bifurcate them and issue smart cards. He said the government would issue ration cards to all the poor and that the BRS government gave Asara pensions, ration cards and double-bedroom house documents only during by-elections. However, the BRS government did not give them systematically.

He said there is another meeting on September 21 and the Cabinet Sub-Committee will submit its report by the end of this month.
