Expressing concern over reports that fish oil, pork fat, and beef fat were allegedly used in the preparation of the famous ‘Laddu Prasadam’ at the Tirumala Venkateswara hill shrine, Deputy Chief Minister K Pawan Kalyan has proposed the establishment of a national-level ‘Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board’ to preserve the sanctity of Hindu temples.
In a statement issued on Friday, Pawan Kalyan said: “We are all deeply disturbed by the findings that animal fat (fish oil, pork fat, and beef fat) was mixed in the Tirupati Balaji Prasadam. Several questions need to be answered by the TTD Board, which was constituted during the previous YSRCP Government. Our Government is committed to taking the most stringent action possible. However, this issue sheds light on broader concerns surrounding the desecration of temples, land disputes, and other ‘Dharmic’ practices.” Pawan Kalyan, who also heads the Jana Sena Party and serves as Panchayat Raj Minister, suggested that it may be time to form a ‘Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board’ at the national level to address temple-related issues across ‘Bharath.’
He further emphasised the need for national-level debates involving policymakers, religious leaders, the judiciary, citizens, media, and other stakeholders. “I believe we all need to unite to put an end to the desecration of ‘Sanatana Dharma’ in any form,” Pawan Kalyan remarked. His call for the ‘Sanatana Dharma Rakshana Board’ follows allegations that animal fat was used in the preparation of the Tirumala Laddu Prasadam. It is worth noting that Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu had earlier made a sensational allegation that adulterated ghee, including animal fat, was used in the preparation of the sacred Laddu Prasadam at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple.
