Govt task force panels asked to monitor corporate hospitals

Health Minister Damodar Raja Narasimha directed the government task force committees to regularly monitor private and corporate hospitals, as well as diet canteens, and provide monthly reports.
In a meeting held with officials in his chamber at the Secretariat on Saturday, the Minister directed food safety officers to inspect the diet canteens in government and private hospitals.
He said that all the HoDs of the Health department should visit hospitals in the districts at least twice a month. Hospital HR, attendance, equipment, medicine, sanitation, diet and other aspects should be thoroughly examined, he said.
The Minister said the government should provide better medical facilities to patients. Medicines should be available in all hospitals, and he directed officials to focus on the health of pregnant women in tribal areas.
A calendar with estimated delivery date (EDD) details should be maintained and pregnant women in tribal areas should be shifted to the nearest hospital a week before the EDD and allotted waiting rooms.
Damodar also directed more focus on the development of hospitals under ITDAs. He instructed officials to prepare proposals for hospital development.
He said District Medical and Health Officers, Superintendents of Hospitals and Task Force Committees will be reviewed monthly. Biometric attendance systems should be installed in all government hospitals, he added.
Health Secretary Christina J Chongthu, Director of Medical Education Vani, Telangana Vaidya Vidhana Parishad Commissioner Ajay Kumar, Director of Public Health Ravinder Naik and other senior officials participated in the meeting.
