Minister for Tourism and Cinematography Kandula Durgesh has announced that the mini-stadium under construction in Nidadavolu will be inaugurated within a month.
The Minister inaugurated the selection process for players aged 14-17 at the constituency level of the AP School Games Federation in Nidadavolu on Monday. The selection programme, aimed at providing coaching and tournament participation, was launched on the campus of Government Boys’ High School. Speaking on the occasion, the Minister stated that the mini-stadium’s construction would be completed in a month, making it available for players soon.
Minister Durgesh encouraged students to excel both in sports and academics, assuring them of full support from the government. He expressed his hope that the players would make their mark in international tournaments by utilising the facilities and infrastructure provided by the government. “Every player should build self-confidence to succeed in sports. Work hard to participate in international tournaments and bring pride to the state and district,” he advised the players.
The Minister also urged school headmasters and physical directors to identify talented budding players so that the government could extend the necessary support to them. Present at the event were Government Boys’ High School Headmaster Gurunath, Education Committee Chairman Surabh, and town JSP and BJP presidents, among others.
Later, the Minister participated in the ‘Idi Manchi Prabhutwam’ programme at D. Muppavaram village, where he accepted petitions from locals regarding their grievances and assured them of appropriate action. He interacted with residents to gather feedback on the 100-day performance of the coalition government.
Speaking to the media afterwards, Minister Durgesh claimed that the residents were pleased with the implementation of government schemes and expressed satisfaction with the administration’s efficiency.
The Minister highlighted that, following the coalition government’s rise to power, the NTR Bharosa pension had been increased from Rs 3,000 to Rs 4,000. He added that, as promised during the election, Rs 7,000 pensions were being disbursed to beneficiaries, along with arrears. He noted that, despite the absence of volunteers, pensions were delivered directly to homes on the first of each month.
Expressing regret that the coalition government had inherited an empty treasury, the Minister announced that free gas cylinders and free bus travel schemes would be implemented from Deepawali. Former MLA Burugupalli Sesha Rao, MPTC S. Satyanarayana, and MPDO Samuel were among those who attended the programme.
