Agriculture officials told to increase area under oil palm by 1,500 acres

District Collector Koya Sriharsha has directed the agriculture officials to increase the areas under oil palm by 1,500 acres by November in the district.
He was reviewing the progress in the oil palm cultivation with agriculture officials on Tuesday. The construction of oil palm processing factor has begun. But the progress of oil palm cultivation is not on expected lines. The government has been lending support to the oil palm farmers by giving them subsidies on saplingsand drip irrigation equipment.
He asked the officials to look into complaints related to Rythu Bima and deal with them immediately. He asked them to verify whether necessary stocks of fertilisers and urea are available with traders for the forthcoming Yasangi (rabi) season. He asked the officials to prepare an action plan for the procurement of Vanakalam (kharif) paddy as per the government norms.
District Agriculture Officer Aadi Reddy, District Horticulture Officer and other officials took part in the meeting.
Participating in yet another meeting, the Collector and Additioanl Collector Arunasri reviewed the measures taken to prevent spread of seasonal diseases. The Collector sought information regarding the incidence of viral fevers like typhoid, malaria, dengue, chikungunya in the district. They asked the DMHO and other officials to remain alert.
DMHO Dr Pramod Kumar, District Rural Development Agency Ravinder, district officials and others took part in the meeting.
