KTR slams govt for ignoring Siricilla weavers, inaugurates school in memory of grandparents

During a visit to Siricilla, KTR criticised the government for its lack of support for weavers in the region, drawing attention to their struggles and the rise in suicides.
He stressed how the BRS government under KCR’s leadership had given orders worth Rs 3,312 crore for Bathukamma sarees and other garments, which helped the weavers financially. He accused the Congress government of cancelling these orders, pushing weavers back into distress, with 22 suicides so far. “The government’s apathy towards weavers is unbearable. They promised jobs for 365 days but have left weavers without work for 10 months now,” he said.
KTR said that despite warning the government about weaver suicides, there has been no action. He pointed out the stark difference between the government’s treatment of the poor and the rich. “While the homes of the poor are being demolished, big builders continue constructing massive buildings on the banks of the Musi River without facing any consequences,” he added.
KTR also inaugurated a primary school in Boyinapalli mandal’s Kodurupaka village in memory of his grandparents, the late Joginipalli Keshavarao and Lakshmibai. Speaking on the occasion, KTR shared the emotional connection he has with the village. “I am not here as a politician, but as the grandson of my beloved grandparents. I have fond memories and a deep connection with this village.”
He expressed satisfaction at inaugurating the school on the birth anniversary of Chityala Ailamma and revealed how his family contributed to the village’s development over the years.
“Apart from this school, we also completed the construction of a temple in Kodurupaka keeping aside politics,” KTR said.
He spoke about the distress caused by the flooding of Kodurupaka village due to the Mid Maneru project, acknowledging the pain of the displaced families. He recalled how his grandmother’s village was submerged during the construction of Upper Maneru, while another family village faced the same fate during the Lower Maneru Dam project.
“Three dams displaced villages linked to my family, and I deeply understand the pain of the displaced,” KTR said, adding that the BRS government has done justice to those affected, and he assured that any remaining issues would be addressed.
Reflecting on his grandparents, KTR said, “Wherever my grandmother and grandfather are today, they would be proud and happy. As their grandson, I will continue to contribute to the development of this village.”

KTR also reiterated that the BRS legal team would stand by the victims of the Congress government’s unjust actions and that the party would ensure that all wrongs are corrected when they returned to power.
