In a heartwarming act of support, the public grievance programme ‘Praja Darbar’ initiated by Minister Nara Lokesh has given new life to a 14-day-old infant. The parents who were in distress over their baby’s critical health condition sought medical help through Praja Darbar. Lokesh provided assurance to the parents, arranged for financial assistance through the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund (CMRF), which saved the child’s life.
Ch Venkata Maheshwar Rao, a resident of Jaggayyapeta in NTR district, was blessed with a second child, a baby boy. However, 14 days after birth, the baby began showing signs of illness, crying incessantly at night and refusing to drink milk. The parents took the baby to a nearby hospital where he was treated. But when his platelet count dropped significantly and his condition worsened, doctors recommended that he be moved to Vijayawada for better medical care.
A private hospital in Vijayawada told the parents that the treatment would be expensive. Maheshwar Rao from a tribal background found himself in a helpless situation as his child’s condition became life-threatening. On a friend’s advice, Maheshwar Rao approached Lokesh at his residence in Undavalli on September 27 night seeking help.
At the public grievance programme held the next morning, Maheshwar Rao met Minister Lokesh and pleaded for assistance.
Lokesh acted swiftly, providing the necessary financial aid through the CMRF, which enabled the baby to receive treatment.
After 14 days of intensive care, the infant made a full recovery and returned home healthy.
During Wednesday’s ‘Praja Darbar’, the parents met Lokesh, expressing their deep gratitude for his timely intervention, stating that they are indebted to him for life.
