Must read

Minister for Municipal Administration P Narayana has said that the desiltation works have been taken up in the city at a cost of Rs 54 crore. He noted that the desiltation would help to prevent clogging of water during heavy rains. He made it clear that all massive efforts were launched to develop Nellore city and urged the cooperation of the people.
The Minister visited some localities in the city on Thursday accompanied by district Collector O. Anand and other officials.  The Minister ordered the officials concerned to remove the flex banners which were erected on dividers. He said that three sand stock reaches would be opened at the river Penna, near here, and sand would be supplied to the consumers from Monday onwards.
The Minister inspected the opening of new sand reaches on the left side of the Penna River in the Nellore City constituency today. Speaking on the occasion, he said that at present, 6000 tonnes of sand is being extracted at the three stock points in the district.
The Minister said that 22000 tonnes of sand could be mined after the opening of three sand reaches in the river Penna. Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu has taken a decision in the Cabinet meeting to reduce the price of sand. According to the Chief Minister’s orders, the authorities were instructed to take steps to start all three reaches from Monday on the left side of Penna River in Nellore city.
The increase in the production of sand in the district would lead to a decrease in sand price, he hoped. “Steps will be taken to start 4 more sand reaches in the district soon. As much as 22000 tonnes of sand will be produced in the district by dredging the Penna River. The sand produced in Nellore district will be supplied for the needs of Prakasam and Bapatla districts, besides meeting the requirements of  Nellore district,” he revealed.
Joint Collector K Karthik, Municipal Commissioner Surya Teja and Deputy Mayor Roop Kumar were among those who accompanied the Minister.
