Enumamula Agricultural Market witnesses increase in cotton price

In the Warangal Enumamula Agricultural Market, Minister for Endowments Konda Surekha, along with local MLA Nagaraj, inaugurated a cotton procurement centre. The Cotton Corporation of India (CCI) established the centre.
District Collector Satya Sharada Devi inspected the procurement centre and enquired about the farmers’ issues. The Minister mentioned that a committee has been formed to ensure farmers do not incur losses this year. The cotton price will be determined based on its moisture content, and the Congress government is working to support farmers in all ways, she stated. The Minister emphasised the effort to increase the procurement at Enumamula Agricultural Market, the second largest market in Asia. She stressed the need to ensure every farmer brings his cotton crop to the market.
Previously, it took 15 days for farmers to receive payments from the CCI. However, this time, an online payment system has been introduced to pay farmers within three days of selling their cotton, which the Minister described as a positive sign. She highlighted that former Congress Chief Minister YS Rajasekhara Reddy developed the agricultural sector, and now Chief Minister Revanth Reddy is providing all facilities to instil confidence in farmers.
In the State, cotton, often referred to as ‘white gold,’ is experiencing a significant price surge. On Monday, at the Warangal Enumamula Agriculture Market, the price for cotton reached a record high of Rs 7,521 per quintal, according to officials.
